Need Storm Damage Roof Repair in Houston?
Your roof can sustain damage in a matter of minutes during a storm. Damage can allow water penetration and lead to further damage inside your attic and home. There is no rule on the size or type of storm that can permanently affect your existing roof.
Hail – Hail causes small indentations and holes in shingles. It also damages the soft metal fixtures, windows, gutters, siding, etc. Once a roof has been damaged by hail, it is not repairable, and there is no such thing as “a little hail damage”. A roof inspection will show the extent of the damage.
Wind – Wind damage is tricky. Residential asphalt shingles are designed to self-seal by way of a tar strip adhering to a match point on each shingle. During a windstorm this tar strip can unseal and the shingle can lift. A lifted shingle alone is not damaged. However, if wind-blown debris attaches to the tar strip during the storm and prevents the shingle from re-sealing, then the shingle is damaged beyond repair. A roof inspection will help identify potential wind damage.
Flying Debris – This is usually a tree branch or similar object which falls, impacts the structure, and causes damage.
Don’t assume your roof is fine after a storm simply because it appears to be intact. Most storm damage is not visible from the ground or to the untrained eye. Houston Roofing & Construction will provide a free roof inspection to determine if your roof is still working properly and fully protecting your home.
Insurance Claims Process
In the event you need to file a claim, the first phone call to your insurance company is very important. Houston Roofing & Construction can point you in the right direction so that your claim is filed properly from the beginning. This can save you time and money, especially if your roof is leaking.
HAVE A CONTRACTOR MEET YOUR INSURANCE ADJUSTER. There are a few things that we see homeowners “mess up” during the claims process, and not having a contractor present to meet the insurance adjuster is the biggest one. The adjuster’s job is to determine whether or not your roof is damaged. Your contractor’s job is to make sure the adjuster does their job!
The last part of the claims process is very tricky and creates several pitfalls for homeowners and contractors alike. Houston Roofing & Construction will guide you through the minefield and ensure you do not create any problems with your coverage, policy, or claim.
