Three Things A Trustworthy Roofer Would NEVER Tell You

road sign saying "Beware, lies, lies, and more lies next exit"

If You Hear This Come Out Of Your Roofer’s Mouth Do An About-Face NOW

“We’ll Cover Your Deductible”

What your roofer wants you to think:

We know how frustrating it is to pay for insurance and keep on top of all the paperwork, only to be hit with a large deductible from your insurance company. To spare you this angst, because we are genuinely kind people, you don’t have to worry about a thing – we’ll pay your deductible and put up the world’s best roof.

Beware!

It’s ILLEGAL for a roofing company to pay for the cost of an insurance deductible. Your roofer is not offering to pay your deductible out of the goodness of his heart. He doesn’t care about doing something illegal to give the impression that he’s doing you a favor. This means that he’s probably unscrupulous in other areas as well…don’t wait around to find out what they are.

What your roofer is really saying:

We’ll tell you that we’ll cover the deductible to sound like we’re nice guys who are saving you an extra expense. In reality, we’ll hike up the price of your roof replacement to make up for the deductible. We don’t care about what’s legal or illegal, we just want you to think we’re the best roofing company out there.

“We Need A FULL Payment From You Before We Can Get Started”

What your roofer wants you to think:

We’re all good to get started on your roofing project. We just need your full payment now as a formality to ‘secure your spot’ as our customer. This is how we do things, it’s protocol. There’s no reason for you to be concerned that we won’t stick around long enough to say ‘adios’.

Beware!

There is absolutely no reason for a roofing company to ask you to pay them in FULL before they start your roofing project. A partial payment for materials or paying your insurance deductible before the job starts makes sense. BUT, If you’re asked for the entire amount before they begin working on your roof, take a moment to ask the roofing company for an explanation. If the explanation they offer sounds fishy in any way…run.

What your roofer is really saying:

Once we have your money, we’ve got you – hook, line, and sinker. When we have your full payment before we even pick up a hammer, we’re completely free to take your money and skip town, or stay and put up the world’s lowest quality roof. It’s too late for you to do anything about it.

“We Can Replace Your Roof For ONLY [Insert Very Low Price Here]”

What your roofer wants you to think:

We are the ONLY roofing company on this planet that has figured out how to build a strong and top-quality roof for pennies. If you choose to hire any other company, you’re just throwing money down the drain.

Beware!

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Quality roofing materials are expensive and putting up a roof requires trained and qualified workers. No one starts a roofing company so that they can sink into debt. If you’re quoted a very low price, we can almost guarantee that you will be asked to pay for ‘additional fees’, ‘unforeseen expenses’, and ‘unexpected costs’ every step of the way.

What your roofer is really saying:

We want you to believe we’re the cheapest option out there, so that you’ll hire us. In reality, we’ll more than make up for the money you ‘save’ by asking you to cover extra costs along the way.

You Will NEVER Hear Us Saying Any Of The Above Statements.
